Privacy Policy

Summary

Before You Share processes selected images on your device. We do not upload image pixels, OCR text, detected values, metadata values, or cleaned copies to our servers.

On Android, the app uses Google ML Kit for on-device detection. ML Kit does not send image input or detection output to Google, but its SDKs may contact Google for model, compatibility, diagnostics, and usage metrics.

If you choose to send feedback or a support request, your mail app opens a draft that you can review before sending. We receive only the email address, message, and diagnostics that you choose to send.

Applicable Law

This policy is governed by Italian law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation 2016/679, "GDPR"). Users in the United Kingdom are covered by the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Residents of California, Colorado, Virginia, and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have the rights granted by those laws.

Platform-Provided Services

Some information may be collected directly by Apple when you use the App Store, StoreKit (in-app purchases and restores), App Store review prompts, and TestFlight (during beta). This collection is governed by Apple's privacy policy. If you have not opted out of analytics sharing in your device settings, Apple may also collect anonymised crash and diagnostic data on our behalf; we receive only aggregated, non-identifying summaries.

On Android, Google may process information through Google Play Billing and Google ML Kit. Google Play handles Android purchases and restores. ML Kit processes image input and detection output on your device, but may contact Google for model updates, bug fixes, hardware compatibility information, diagnostics, and usage metrics such as device and app information, performance metrics, API configuration, feature input/output size, events, and error codes. Google states that this ML Kit data is encrypted in transit and is not shared with third parties.

Information Processed On Your Device

When you choose an image, the app may inspect it for possible privacy risks such as visible text, contact details, payment details, faces, QR codes, system interface details, and image metadata. This processing happens on your device using Apple on-device frameworks on Apple platforms, Google ML Kit on Android, and local app code.

Detected values are used only to show review items and to create a cleaned copy when you ask the app to hide selected details. The original image is not modified.

Face Data

The app may use Apple's on-device Vision framework on Apple platforms and Google ML Kit Face Detection on Android to detect whether a selected image contains a face and the approximate rectangle needed to show a review item or apply redaction. The app does not identify people, perform face recognition, create face templates, measure face geometry for identification, or collect biometric identifiers.

Face detection output is used only on the device to show a review item and, if the user selects it, to hide that area in the cleaned copy. Face data, face bounding boxes, images, and cleaned copies are not uploaded to the developer or shared with third parties. Face detection results are kept only in memory while the selected image is being reviewed and are discarded when the review screen is closed. If the user saves or shares a cleaned copy, that copy is a flattened image chosen by the user; the app does not retain separate face data.

Photos Access

The app asks for access to the image you choose so it can run the privacy check. On Android, image selection uses the Android Photo Picker or an image shared from another app, which grants access only to that selected image. If you save a cleaned copy, the app writes that image to Photos or Pictures using the platform's save flow. The app does not scan your photo library in the background.

Metadata

The app can show image metadata that may be attached to the selected image. When you create a clean copy, the app exports a flattened PNG and removes image metadata from that copy.

Purchases

Before You Share offers an optional Pro purchase through Apple's StoreKit on Apple platforms and Google Play Billing on Android. Apple or Google processes the purchase. We do not receive your payment card details. The app stores a local entitlement flag on your device so Pro features remain available.

Local Settings And Counters

The app stores local settings and counters on your device, including redaction style, save preference, demo completion, free-check timestamps, and clean-copy timestamps. These values are used for app functionality and are not sent to us.

Feedback And Support Emails

If you use the in-app feedback option or contact support, your mail app opens a draft message addressed to support@beforeyoushare.net. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the email.

The feedback draft may include app version, build number, OS version, device model, locale, feedback type, whether Pro is unlocked, detection sensitivity, result screen source, detection count, selected count, and category counts. This information is used only to understand the request, respond to you, troubleshoot issues, and prioritize improvements.

The app does not attach images, OCR text, detected values, metadata values, redaction selections, or cleaned copies automatically. If you choose to include images or other private details in your email, we use them only for the support or feedback request you sent. Support and feedback emails are kept only as long as needed to handle the request and maintain ordinary business records.

Analytics, Ads, And Tracking

Before You Share does not add its own third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or cross-app tracking. The app does not create an account and does not identify you to us. On Android, Google ML Kit SDKs may collect diagnostics and usage metrics as described above.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. We do not share image content or detection results because the app does not upload them. Feedback and support emails are not shared with third parties except as needed for email delivery and ordinary support operations.

Children

The app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If the app's privacy practices change, this policy will be updated and the App Store privacy information will be kept current.
